Overview

Reporting to the Corporate Sales Operations Manager, this position is responsible for reviewing and analyzing all machine sales and determining which merchandising programs may apply to maximize claims on each sale. Typical merchandise programs offered include rebates, financing options, promotions, incentives or warranties for all varieties of machine equipment sales. The Merchandising Coordinator is a high-impact role, with the opportunity to recover hundreds of millions of dollars' worth of claims annually. This position will also act as a change agent to research, develop and drive continuous improvement and establish best practices for optimizing merchandise claiming programs and maximizing recovered dollars.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of all merchandising claim programs (rebates, promotions, incentives & warranties) available from Caterpillar Corporation or vendor partners. The number of programs available at any given time can range from 200-500 and flex based on sales initiatives.
  • Establish and refine program procedures and guidelines to maximize efficiency of the process including:
    • Determining most effective program to apply to each sale.
    • Ensure all claims opportunities are captured.
  • Utilize custom merchandising claiming systems to research sales, determine which programs are available and work with the Sales Operations department to determine which programs Milton CAT will participate in.
  • Make recommendations on which programs Milton CAT should utilize or pass on based on sales data and sales goals.
  • Utilize data analytics within custom systems to conduct gap analysis on expected sales revenue vs. actual sales revenue; report on results and provide insights to VP Sales and Sales Managers.
  • Audit sales transactions in a rolling 60-day window to ensure Milton CAT is recovering as much money as possible and no claims are missed.
  • Manage the merchandise claims program compliance and ensure claims are completed within established timeframes and guidelines.
  • Develop process to track progress/results of programs and regularly report on results
  • Act as the "owner" and central point of contact for the merchandising claims programs; respond to all inquiries and requests in a timely manner.
  • Work with Marketing to create promotional /communication material in support of sales and the promotion of various products and deals.
  • Work with the VP of Sales to design incentive programs for the sales team. Document rules, report on sales results and distribute timely updates to participants.


Qualifications

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability required.

  • 2-3 years' experience in an analytical position, ideally within a Sales, Marketing or Finance department.
  • Proficient in the use of a computer and able to quickly learn new technology. Strong experience in MS Office, particularly Word and advanced Excel required (v-lookups, pivot tables, etc.).
  • Highly detail oriented and with a high level of accuracy
  • Motivated, self-starter who can work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication, organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to function at a high level in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities; ability to manage a high-volume workflow
  • Strong multi-tasking skills when working with highly detailed and complex information
