A Customer Service Professional position requiring creativity, empathy, interpersonal skills and a strong desire to assist customers.

Provides prompt claim investigation, evaluation and settlement or denial of claims with moderate to highly complex exposures. Provides empathy and understanding to customers that may be upset or frustrated. Authorizes payments in accordance with assigned authority limit. Documents claim files with all pertinent information and disposition. Fully experienced claims handler. Responsible for handling claims having complex negligence, compensability, damage and coverage issues. May handle claims requiring litigation and is accumulating expertise in specified jurisdictional areas. May be required to attend mediation, hearings, settlement conferences and trials.

What You'll Do:

As a Senior Claims Representative with Sentry, you'llprovide superior customer service by conducting prompt claim investigations, which includesevaluating coverage, determining liability, and settlement of damages.In addition, you'll:

  • Negotiate the settlement of bodily injury and property damage claims with claimants and their legal counsel

  • Handle a caseload of litigated and non-litigated files from inception to closure.

  • Review coverage forms and contracts to interpret applicable coverage then communicate the analysis to our customers

  • Evaluate the facts and develop and execute plans to resolve bodily injury and property damage claims

  • Review medical documentation to determine the value of bodily injury claims

  • Exercise sound independent judgment within assigned authority limits, and escalate matters as appropriate

  • Document all decisions, correspondence, reports, and discussions

What it Takes:

  • Bachelor's degree or related experience

  • 5 years of related work experience

  • Thorough knowledge of insurance policies and coverages, claim payment procedures, insurance regulations, and familiarity with medical and legal terminology

  • Analytical skills to review, exercise judgment, and evaluate claims to make sound decisions

  • Ability to review and interpret complex and detailed documents

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to maintain confidential information

  • Effective computer and math skills beneficial
