Job Summary

Please note: this short-term role is covering for someone on leave of absence from 6/4/24 - 7/31/24 (possibility of extension).

Responsibilities:


Compliance Management:

  • Ensure compliance with federal laws, Board of Nursing standards, and accreditation requirements.
  • Maintain SON databases in compliance with UCSF Office of Healthcare Privacy and Compliance, CCNE, and BRN standards.
  • Uphold HIPAA and FERPA compliance.
  • Adhere to UCSF Graduate Division, SON, and Office of Clinical Placement policies.

Pre-Clinical Placement Process Management:

  • Review Training Affiliation Agreements (TAAs) to ensure full execution before clinical onboarding.
  • Verify student background checks, drug testing, and fingerprinting through the certified background database.
  • Ensure completion of clinical requirements and entry into Castle Branch before rotation starts.
  • Generate clinical placement reports for various stakeholders.
  • Manage preceptor database and verification requirements.

Clinical Placement System Update:

  • Add student schedules and manage clinical requirements in the system.
  • Monitor student hours and address issues appropriately.
  • Manage communications between students, faculty, and preceptors.
  • Complete preceptor verification process.
  • Upload and manage student site-specific clinical paperwork.

Student Assistance and Advising:

  • Apply professional concepts to advise and assist students on clinical requirements.
  • Send quarterly preceptor availability emails and surveys.
  • Manage preceptor responses and communicate them to faculty.
  • Identify student clinical placement needs and communicate with faculty.
  • Ensure completion of clinical student onboarding and address delays.
  • Troubleshoot issues during the onboarding process.
  • Generate reports for preceptor availability and responses.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Clinical Placement Communications Management:

  • Maintain a database of available preceptors.
  • Communicate preceptor availability to faculty.
  • Send introduction emails to students/preceptors with details of clinical activity.
  • Prepare clinical placement packets and other documents for signatures.
  • Compose confirmation and thank-you letters to preceptors.
  • Manage clinical site contacts and onboarding timelines.
  • Attend scheduled and ad hoc meetings as required.

The hourly compensation range for this role is $24.28 - $37.88. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate, position requirements, AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description

UCSF's Temporary Employment Program (TEP) recruits and hires temporary employees for immediate clerical and technical support services to UCSF Departments and various off-campus locations. UCSF departments deploy temporary employees to work on special projects, fill in for regular employees who are on vacation or leave, or to temporarily fill a vacant position during recruitment. Frequently temporary employees become successful candidates for career and limited appointment positions.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Skills in judgment and decision-making, problem solving.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Abilities in problem identification, reasoning, ability to develop original idea to solve problems.
  • Organizational and time management skills

Preferred Qualifications


  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including active listening.
