• Performs proper drug screen collection and processing as assigned.
• Answers laboratory department phone calls.
• Demonstrates ability to recognize emergent conditions and reacts appropriately.
• Provides phlebotomy services in a professional and patient centered manner.
• Engages in self-evaluation of practice and takes action to improve knowledge and skills.
• Retains accountability for quality of care given to the patient.
• Promotes service excellence and growth of the laboratory.
• May work with multiple departments within the laboratory or across the hospital/health system.
• Performs arterial puncture as assigned.
• Demonstrates proper infection control practices, proper patient identification, performs proper prompt specimen transport.

Job Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Basic computer skills and strong customer service skills

Preferred Job Requirements:

• Experience working in the clinical setting
• Completion of an accredited phlebotomy/medical assistant program with clinicals or previous phlebotomy experience
• National Phlebotomy certification through National Heathcareer Association; American Society for Clinical Pathology; American Medical Technologists; National Center for Competency Testing, or American Certification Agency
