Job Posting Title: Museum Attendant, Texas Science & Natural History Museum---- Hiring Department: Texas Memorial Museum---- Position Open To: All Applicants---- Weekly Scheduled Hours: 20---- FLSA Status: Non-Exempt---- Earliest Start Date: May 10, 2024---- Position Duration: Expected to Continue---- Location: UT MAIN CAMPUS---- Job Details: Summary Provide a positive visitor experience while monitoring and assisting with security at Texas Science & Natural History Museum. Interact with visitors of all ages and conduct oversight of building facilities during museum operating hours and for special events. Purpose To ensure a safe and pleasant experience for staff and visitors to Texas Science & Natural History Museum, while protecting the University's collections and property. Responsibilities Assist in the safety and security of Texas Science & Natural History Museum by monitoring and protecting visitors, exhibitions, building, and grounds. Provide clear guidance, direction, and information to ensure that all visitors have a positive and welcoming experience.Provide knowledge of museum amenities, exhibitions, and events to visitors. Document and report observed physical interactions with exhibits and collections by visitors, and address any inappropriate behavior in a confident, calm, and friendly manner. Report any missing, damaged objects, or unusual conditions to supervisors. Report any irregularities pertaining to building operations, safety, or fire hazards. Follow museum policies and security procedures to assist in the opening and closing of the museum, daily operations, and during special events. Actively participate in training programs to improve knowledge of the museum, security best practices, and customer service skills. Operate freight elevator and manual warehouse equipment and work as a team member to set up furniture and equipment for events; complete other manual duties as assigned. Serve as initial responder in the event of an emergency, know evacuation procedures and routes, contacting a supervisor when appropriate. Act in a calm and decisive manner in assisting in the evacuation of the public and staff from the building during fire alarms or other emergencies. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications
