Registered Nurse Medical/Surgical - Adult Oncology BMT Unit Full Time 77857BR Job Summary Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams; carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required; performs nursing care for patients with more complex needs with assistance and supervision. Assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role. To learn more about the benefits of working at UCSF, including total compensation, please visit: Department Description The 66-bed Adult Hematology / Oncology / Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) Unit is a fast-paced, highly specialized unit located on the eleventh and twelfth floors of Long Hospital. Staff provide exceptional patient centered care to acutely and chronically ill adults with complex hematological and oncological diagnoses. Nurses are highly trained to provide multiple treatment modalities, such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation therapy, peripheral blood/umbilical cord stem cell/bone marrow transplants, and cellular immunotherapy. The staff excels in symptom management and provides compassionate care to patients throughout the various stages of their treatment and recovery. Nurses are also trained to support Phase I-III clinical research activities on the unit to further develop cutting edge treatment and care. Professional development of the staff is supported through participation in classes, seminars, and conferences as well as unit councils, quality improvement projects and community activities.
