The department of Dental Admissions, Recruitment, & Access in the School of Dentistry at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Program Specialist.

About the Opportunity

As a Program Specialist, you will be responsible for independently, professionally and effectively managing all dental student recruitment and graduate I postdoctoral admissions functions within the School of Dentistry, assisting with dental admission programs with utmost discretion, and providing administrative support to the office of the Associate Dean for Admissions, Recruitment and Access.

What you'll do:



  • Manage dental student recruitment and retention programs.
  • Manage the School of Dentistry's graduate I postdoctoral admission process.
  • Provide administrative support to the Associate Dean for Admissions, Recruitment and Access to Care.
  • Manage documentation and tracking of immunization records.
  • Manage documentation and tracking of background checks.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in communications, Public Relations, Business or related degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience involving:

    • Office experience in higher education (WVU System preferred).
    • Word processing/computer/web-based data experience.
    • Experience working with diverse groups (preferably students).
    • Organizing multi-tasked events.
    • Professional program preparation for printing.
    • Processing budget/invoicing forms.


  • Broad knowledge of computer software required.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to plan, organize and set priorities regarding work to be accomplished.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive and productive working relationships.
  • Ability to trouble-shoot and problem solve.
  • Ability to maintain proper unit attendance and punctuality standards.
  • Demonstrated advanced skills in the use and operation of a personal computer, including use of word processing and database software.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends when event schedule dictates.
  • Knowledge of social protocol.
  • Knowledge of academic record-keeping.
  • Ability to carry out assignments without detailed instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups effectively.
  • Ability to speak in public before small groups or committees.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to reason logically and analyze and solve problems.
  • Ability to travel and work weekends and evenings when event schedule dictates.

Requirements

  • Valid US driver's license - for travel to campus and/or community-based recruitment programs and health fairs.
