Description The American Library Association (ALA) is the foremost national association for libraries and information centers in the world, delivering pragmatic solutions to pressing issues such as expanding economic opportunity, advancing education, and learning in the global economy, and strengthening public interest information policies such as telecommunications, copyright, access to government information, funding, privacy, and free speech. The ACRL division helps those working in academic and research libraries learn, innovate, and lead within the academic community. The Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL) seeks a Program Manager for Consulting and Professional Development to lead and develop two key initiatives:
Key Responsibilities Include: ACRL Consulting Services designs and assists with academic library reviews and planning activities, organizational change and development initiatives, staff retreats, and campus collaborations. This position will manage our team of experienced adjunct consultants, manage the operations, and expand the program through strategic marketing and outreach.
ACRL's traveling workshop "RoadShow" program allows academic and research libraries to bring high quality professional development directly to their campus, chapter, or consortium at an affordable cost. Day-long traveling workshops and online experiences have been designed to help academic library professionals tackle the greatest issues facing the profession today. This position will independently manage all aspects of and seek to expand ACRL's licensed workshop program.
This is a regular full-time position based in our Chicago office. ALA staff are currently working on a hybrid schedule. Please note that although we have a generous telecommuting policy for our employees, we do not have any truly remote positions in states outside of our workplace sites. ALA currently requires that employees be fully vaccinated as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Proof of vaccination will be required on or before start date. All offers of employment are contingent upon satisfactory completion of a background check and proof of your eligibility to work in the United States. Starting salary range negotiable from low-60s, based on relevant experience. ALA has an excellent benefit package that includes flexible work schedules, medical, dental, generous paid vacation, a retirement annuity, and a 35-hour work week.
