About the Department:

The Department of Social Work has internationally recognized faculty for their expertise in areas of behavioral health, violence prevention, older adults, children and youth, and immigration, with a proud history of faculty-student-community research collaborations. The Department has received a HRSA Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training (BHWET) grant to train the next generation of social workers in evidence-based approaches for behavioral health and is involved in a Workforce Resiliency Training Program. Additionally, faculty are engaged in innovative, collaborative research projects that leverage university partnerships to incorporate digital technology solutions and computing techniques in developing service interventions. The Department of Social Work offers BSW and MSW degree programs (including a fully online MSW program) with an educational and research mission focusing on practice and policy interventions that improve health and well-being and promote economic and social justice, particularly for individuals, families, and communities who have been historically oppressed and minoritized. The department includes 20 full-time faculty, enrolls approximately 200 undergraduate and 450 graduate students, and is building a Ph.D. program.

About the Position:

The postdoctoral research fellow position fills a critical need to develop the deliverables expected by the funder, as well as to help with the drafting of manuscripts and conference presentations on a grant project consisting of multi-phase series of studies that explores intimate partner violence experiences of minoritized men.

Responsibilities:

• Performs data collection, data management, statistical and qualitative data analysis, and contributes to the production of deliverables, including grant reports, training programs, manuscripts for publications, and conference presentations. Disseminates and translates findings for diverse audiences;
• Collaborates with the faculty team, which includes social work faculty from three other universities;
• Mentors and oversees Masters-level and Bachelors-level research assistants;
• Assists on projects that may include previously-collected data on men's victimization across several countries, data collected on sexual and gender minority men's victimization, and other projects; and
• Submits peer-reviewed articles, and assists in the development of grant proposals.

Required Qualifications:

• Recent Ph.D. (or other doctoral degree) in social work, psychology, sociology, criminology or criminal justice, public health, or a related discipline;
• Experience in interpersonal violence research;
• Background in qualitative and quantitative data analysis;
• Experience working on a research team;
• Advanced data analysis skills to be used with both quantitative and qualitative data sets;
• Proficiency in relevant data analysis software (e.g., SPSS, R, NVivo, etc.);
• A solid understanding of interpersonal violence research; and
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in producing scholarly research (manuscripts for publication, conference presentations);
• Experience with surveying software, such as Qualtrics; and
• Experience leading or managing research teams.
