Job Title: Employment Coach

FLSA Status: Full Time - non-exempt
Reports to: Employment Coach Manager

Schedule: FT, TBD
Supervises: N/A

Closing Date: 1/4/2023

Rate of Pay: $24-25/hour

Benefits: Standard; Full-Time, Non-Exempt employees are eligible for but not limited to the following:

  • Sick leave benefit - 1 day per month, 12 sick days per year (accrual and availability begins at hire)
  • Vacation benefit - 10 vacation days per year, accrued at the rate of .0385 hours for each hour worked, excluding overtime (accrual begins at hire but may not be used until the completion of six months of employment)
  • One floating day off for use (accrued immediately, and again annually, but may not be used until the completion of the initial three-month introductory period of employment)
  • Pension Plan (after one year of continuous service)
  • Voluntary Tax-Deferred Annuity Plan (403(b)plan)



Function: The Employment Coach provides trauma informed and strengths-based job coaching services to individuals who are marginalized, low income or experiencing homelessness. This position responds to referrals made to the program, orients potential participants of the nature of the coaching relationship. The coach utilizes assessment tools and other web based or local resources to help participants identify appropriate short term and long-term career plans to improve career options and outcomes. Focus areas for coaching include career exploration/assessment, resume writing, goal setting, interviewing skills, digital skills building and job search strategies and sustaining employment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Career Identification and Employment Coaching



  • Receive referrals, coordinate initial meeting, and explain Employment Coaching services with potential program participants.
  • Provide Career Direct testing and analysis of assessment.
  • Provide coaching and access to Career One Stop, Udemy and other technology-based resources.
  • Recruit participants to job training and scholarship programs.
  • Provide career focused coaching for participant self-development.
  • Prepare participants for employment (resume building, connection to employment).
  • Provide employment placement to program participants.
  • Provide ongoing follow-up and support to program participants up to one year following employment.



General Responsibilities



  • Works with Coordinator to develop intake, assessment, and data pathways to ensure optimal data collection for reporting and outcomes.
  • Maintain high quality record keeping including statistics, outcome measures and end of month reporting.
  • Network with community partners, employers and government agencies for referrals, resource connections and employment options.
  • Performs other duties as required



Qualification and Education Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in human service-related field, required. Three years of experience in experience in human services, education, workforce development or related setting, may be accepted in lieu of bachelors degree. High School Degree/GRE required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with individual from diverse and economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
  • Utilizes a strong understanding of the barriers specific to marginalized communities and a commitment to a strengths-based approach to join
  • Knowledge of pre-employment and employment maintenance skills, preferred.
  • Knowledge of community education, training, and work experience opportunities for homeless individuals, preferred
  • Service oriented mindset, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with participants, staff, and funders.
  • Ability to adopt and apply strength based and trauma informed approach.
  • Experience with daily, detailed data entry and reporting.
  • Strong computer skills including web-based databases, internet research and advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications.
  • Excellent business writing, public speaking, and group facilitation skills.
  • Deadline oriented with strong ability to follow through on tasks with little supervision.
  • Flexible team player with a commitment to personal and professional accountability.
  • Proactive self-starter with excellent organizational skills and proven ability to balance multiple tasks and deadlines with attention to detail.
  • Successfully pass background check
  • Valid CO driver's license and ability to pass The Salvation Army driving requirements
