Staff Research Associate 2 - Biological Chemistry

Description In this role you will carry out molecular, cell biological and biomedical research while overseeing laboratory and equipment maintenance and inventory. The Staff Research Associate will support research in the areas of developmental and stem cell biology. Responsibilities include cell culture of mammalian cell lines including human fibroblasts and human pluripotent stem cells, numerous reprogramming experiments from fibroblasts to induced pluripotent stem cells, the characterization of resulting induced pluripotent stem cell lines and of the reprogramming processes, banking and organization of cell lines, the interrogation of the reprogramming process with genomics approaches including ChIP-seq, single cell RNA-seq and ATAC-seq, Cut&Run and Cut&Tag and other methods as needed. The work will also involve basic molecular biology approaches such as cloning of plasmids, preparation of buffers and solutions, RT-PCR, immunostaining, RNA FISH and immunoblotting, and the keeping of weekly summaries of experiments and cell lines. Additionally, duties include managing the interaction with collaborating laboratories to coordinate sample collection for various multi-omics approaches and the processing and analysis of resulting genomics data. The incumbent will be required to coordinate and work together as a team with undergraduate and graduate students, postdocs and project scientists. Experience in cell culture and programming are essential. The incumbent will work with the lab personnel on other tasks as needed.
Salary Range: $28.04-45.11 Hourly
Qualifications * Knowledge of basic cell biology, molecular biology, and biochemical principles.
* Ability to use laboratory equipment, including centrifuges, pH meter, PCR machines etc.
* Ability to handle tissue culture and maintain sterility.
* Ability to prepare protein lysates and carry out western blotting.
* Ability to organize raw data into comprehensible form.
* Ability to create and maintain records accurately.
* Ability to communicate effectively to convey experimental results.
* Ability to learn new methods and protocols and to adapt these to current laboratory situations.
* Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with faculty, staff, postdoctoral fellows, and students.
* Demonstrate computer skills including knowledge of Excel and MS Word.
Preferred
* B.S in Biology or Molecular Biology
