Assistant Coach

The New York Red Bulls are one of 29 teams in Major League Soccer (MLS). RBNY, one of the ten charter clubs of MLS, have competed in the league since its founding in 1996. The Red Bulls play home matches at Red Bull Arena (RBA) in Harrison, New Jersey. The three-time MLS Supporters' Shield Winners are owned by the Austrian beverage company Red Bull for which the team is named. The New York Red Bulls offer one of the nation's premier youth soccer development programs, from local soccer partnerships across New York and New Jersey to Regional Development Schools and the Red Bulls Academy teams.

You will bring on-field success to the first team with a responsibility to support the development of the team philosophy, style of play and daily coaching. You will report to the Head coach on all matters related to the team, players and coaching staff.

  • WHAT YOU'LL DO

    • Contribute to the success and achievement of NYRB and specifically the First Team.
    • Manage, coach, communicate and motivate first team players to develop a hardworking, winning culture where the team are prepared to win. Including assisting with team discipline and the welfare of the team.
    • Liaise specifically with medical services, sports science, and performance analysts to guarantee a coordinated program of support.
    • Support the preparation of training sessions and the analysis of opposing teams.
    • Provide appropriate game day support through the management of related activities, provide advice to players and to the Head Coach as required to support team success.
    • Provide specific individualized support to players to support their ongoing development and to further support the success of the team. Offer support to the Head Coach, the Head of Sport and their authorized designee(s) to club Soccer philosophy.
    • Play an active role in the development of the sporting department, supporting and mentoring subordinate coaching and football support staff whilst working closely with Club officials to support the success of the wider sporting plan.
    • Take an active role in the scouting and player recruitment process through the review of identified player targets. This process may also include supporting the process of player induction into the team squad and culture of the Club.
    • Develop a close and positive relationship with the Head of Academy and help to support the process of integration and promotion of youth players into the first team.
    • Support the Academy staff in the development of the Academy performance plan.
    • Represent the Club from a PR and Commercial standpoint at various functions for sponsors and supporters. Help organize the players to be involved in PR activities to support of the Club's Commercial and PR staff.
    • Perform other such reasonable responsibilities as may from time to time be requested.
  • Because of the cyclical nature of the entertainment industry, you may be asked to work varying schedules to reflect our our needs.
EXPERIENCE Your areas of knowledge and expertise

that matter most for this role:

  • 4 years' experience in the elite sports setting.
  • Strong understanding of the Red Bull playing philosophy.
  • Experience working within a multi-disciplinary professional soccer environment.
  • Experience using the latest performance analysis software (HUDL SportsCode, WyScout).
  • Travel 40-50%
