Occupational Summary The Department of Computer Science at Duke University seeks a teaching associate to support the education mission of the department by providing instruction and technical support to the department's undergraduate courses, such as Introduction to Computer Science, Data Structures and Algorithms, Introduction to Computer Systems, and Design and Analysis of Algorithms. These courses span both the theory and practice of computer science and are part of Duke's core computer science curriculum. Knowledge of Python and Java as well as materials covered in these courses are required. The course load will be between 3 and 4 courses per year depending on departmental needs, the candidate's qualifications, and the candidate's pedagogical activities. Salary will depend on qualifications and responsibilities. This position will report to the Department Business Manager for all administrative roles and to the faculty members designated by the Chair for all instructional roles. During the academic year, this position will have complete responsibility to support our courses. During the summer months, this position may be involved in teaching summer courses and improving the course materials and infrastructure for the coming academic year.
