We also function as teachers and clinical supervisors for the Psychiatry Residency Program. As the training programs continue to grow at JSUMC, we are looking for dedicated and passionate supervisors, teachers, and clinicians to provide training and supervision to the next generation of mental health professionals while also providing clinical services to our community of patients.

The Supervising Psychologist functions as a psychologist and supervisor of mental health services under the direction of the Chief Psychologist and the Chair of the Department of Psychiatry. Specific scope of clinical practice will be articulated in the delineation of privileges as issued in the process of appointment to the Medical Staff.

Hours are Monday through Friday 8:30am-5pm

No weekends or on call!!!

Responsibilities

1. Responsible for the provision of clinical supervision of Psychology Interns, Psychology Externs, Psychiatry Residents, Fellows and other students and mental health professionals and students, as assigned.

2. Responsible for teaching didactics and lecture series to psychology interns, psychology externs, psychiatry residents, psychiatry fellows, and medical students.

3. Serves as a primary supervisor in the Doctoral Internship in Health Service Psychology, which includes developing supervisee training plans, engaging in clinical observations, weekly supervision meetings, completing quarterly competency evaluations, and attending monthly supervisors meeting.

4. Participates in outpatient psychological services, including: performing intake assessments; developing and updating treatment plans; providing empirically-based treatment in individual, family, and group modalities in the delivery outcome-oriented psychotherapy; working with families and community resources to provide patient support; supervising trainees; collaborating with the interdisciplinary team; and attending disposition and other staff meetings.

5. Functions as a consultant in the Department of Psychiatry in the areas of Behavioral Health, and provides behavioral health consultations within the medical center. Serves as a resource and liaison to departments in the medical center and community agencies who seek mental health information.

6. Participates in professional and community educational conferences and seminars as part of professional development.

7. Ensures that clinical work adheres to the Ethical Principles of Psychologists and code of Conduct of the American Psychological Association guidelines from the New Jersey Board of Physiological Examiners and standards set forth by the Joint Commission.

8. Completes written reports and therapy notes in a timely fashion.

9. Attends external meetings, as assigned.

10. Attend Performance Improvement meetings, as assigned.

11. Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 1. A Doctoral Degree in Psychology (Psy.D. or Ph.D.) 2. Experience providing clinical training and supervision, and a commitment to training the next generation of psychologists. 3. Sensitivity to multiculturalism and diversity. 4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Licenses and Certifications Required: 1. Psychologist License in NJ
