Cardiac Surgeon - Ochsner Main Campus, Ochsner Health

The Section of Adult Cardiothoracic Surgery of Ochsner Health is seeking a Cardiac Surgeon to join our faculty at Ochsner Main Campus. The candidate will join Ochsner Health's well-established and experienced cardiac surgery program, one of the largest in the state of Louisiana.

Responsibilities include an emphasis on all aspects of adult cardiac surgery. The candidate should have completed an accredited Cardiovascular Surgery Fellowship training program and is either board eligible or certified. It is preferred the candidate have a broad skill set and interest in all facets of cardiothoracic surgery. Specialized interest for aortic surgery and familiarity with catheter-based therapies (TEVAR) would be preferred. The applicant will also participate in the catheter-based valve technologies (both aortic and mitral), EP procedures, organ procurement and thoracic transplantation.

Ochsner Main campus has 767 beds and is the leading provider of tertiary and quaternary health care services in the Gulf South. The Surgical ICU has 34 beds and is one of six critical care units in the hospital. Ochsner has an independent Cardiothoracic fellowship that finishes one trainee per year. Ochsner has an independent surgical residency that finishes seven chiefs and trains fellows in Colorectal, Vascular, and Transplant Surgery. Ochsner provides the final two years of clinical training for medical students from the University of Queensland (Australia). Candidates should have an interest in education and participation in clinical research.
