What you'll be doing...

The Global Network Management - Virtual Network Operations and Engineering (vNOE) in Verizon manages business critical VoLTE and IMS platforms that provide 3G, 4G, and 5G services to Verizon customers. The Tenant Ops Engineer/Sr. Engineer Specialist will have the opportunity to implement and support the CNF Identity Management Server (IDMS).

  • Migrating and maintain virtual network functions (VNFs) in Verizon Cloud Platform supporting Webscale (Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform) and Openstack.
  • Performing expert level troubleshooting and debugging of both network and application system issues
  • Implementing detailed project plans and provide input to weekly status calls with teams across several organizations
  • Implementing tenant operations MOPs for patches and new releases with focus on reduction of mean time to repair
  • Running reports for daily KPI measurements, help engineering address capacity, and demand growth on the systems
  • Overseeing the reporting of service KPI and analytics for the physical and virtual IDMS and other network application components
  • Requiring on-call rotation and willingness to work nights depending on the needs of the business

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we're looking for...

Must be a current participant of the Department of Defense SkillBridge Program or of the Hiring our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program Cohort 1-2023.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A degree in Computer Science.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Ansible and scripting (Shell/Python) languages.
  • Knowledge of Linux and Cloud/Containerized environment.
  • Knowledge of Virtual Machines in Openstack environment.
  • Knowledge of Wireshark, tcpdump, ping, traceroute and netstat.
  • Experience in Kubernetes/Docker and Openstack.
  • Authentication/Authorization protocols such as OpenID, Oath 2.0, REST/JSON.
  • Proven track record of successful and timely project delivery.
  • Knowledge of fault and performance management systems (Grafana, Kibana, Prometheus).
  • Ability to demonstrate applied skills and working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS.
