RFK Community Alliance has an exciting opportunity for a temporary Speech & Language Pathologist to join our team.

You are an established special education leader with demonstrated experience as a special educator, leader, and collaborative team player. You are well-versed in educational psychology, social learning theory, and character development. You are committed and passionate about leading an education program that supports the unique needs of students with substantial emotional, mental health, and learning challenges. As a leader, you have demonstrated an ability to work as part of a diverse and inclusive team, cultivating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture to ensure high-quality and impactful services and support to students and their families.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the provision of Speech and Language assessments and direct services of assigned students. Complete screening of new students and evaluations as indicated by a student's IEP. Provide supervision and consultation to classroom teachers in order to coordinate individual and group language programs.


  • Conducts speech and language screening on all new students.
  • Complete full speech and language evaluations as indicated by a student's IEP or upon specific referral following an initial screening.
  • Provides individual speech and language therapy services to students on caseload assigned by the IEP Coordinator.
  • Reviews the permanent record of students receiving services to include a review of admission material, long-treatment goals, current IEP, current evaluations, and treatment plan. Shall incorporate such information into the formulation of treatment services provided to the student.
  • Provides consultation to classroom teachers to coordinate individual and group language programs within the classroom.
  • Maintains student performance records, including but not limited to student portfolios, student tests, report card grades, and behavior incident reports.
  • Trained in and understands the agency's treatment program and behavior management system and ensures that the standards of these programs are accurately carried out in the classroom. Can effectively manage students verbally and physically in times of crisis.
  • Communicate with other staff, programs, families, and outside agencies professionally and positively. Demonstrates leadership and maturity to promote a positive image to subordinates, students, parents, and the community.
  • On a regular basis- and at least annually- shall review testing and speech-language curriculum t to replace any outdated or used instructional materials.
  • Shall maintain all required certifications, approvals, and licensures as required by the Department of Education.
  • Shall attend a minimum of 24 hours a year of training consisting of full-time professional staff training requirements.
  • As assigned will provide supervision to graduate students from local colleges performing a speech/language practicum according to licensure limitations.
  • Maintains the physical and emotional stamina required to effectively manage the job.
  • Participates in performance quality improvement efforts that include but are not limited to timely and accurate completion of identified workflows and documentation measures outlined in the agency PQI plan and divisional goal plans.
  • Other reasonable, related duties as assigned by the Education Coordinator.


Shift:
Full-time, Monday-Friday, year-round calendar with half days in July and August
Requirements


  • Minimum of two years of experience
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and multi-task
  • Good judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to work professionally and confidentially with students, parents, and the community.
  • Requires Master's Degree with Massachusetts Board of Speech & Language Pathology License and Certificate of Clinical Competence, school experience preferred.


Who You'll Work With
The Speech Language Pathologist is a member of the RFK Community Alliance and will work closely with students and peers. The Speech Language Pathologist will report to the IEP Coordinator.
