Institutional Marketing Director

The position is responsible for developing and executing clear, consistent strategic marketing plans tailored to meet the growing market opportunity for the US Institutional channel. This person will serve as a lead Institutional Marketing role in the US, partnering closely with senior Institutional Sales leaders, Client Service and Consultant Relations professionals, as well as Integrated Marketing, Global Marketing, Product Management and Portfolio Management, to deliver exceptional marketing programs that support our Institutional business development and client service efforts.

The role will require a strong skill set for working effectively up the organizational structure and across departments. The position will provide strategic direction coupled with highly responsive and customized support to service the Institutional channel, conduct local market research, manage the Institutional website & broader communication initiatives, and otherwise drive existing and new marketing strategies/tactics to support the specialized needs of the Institutional business.

What are the ongoing responsibilities of an Institutional Marketing Director?
  • Partner with Sales, Client Service and Consultant Relations leaders in developing and executing clear, consistent and achievable strategic marketing plans tailored to market growth expectations.

  • Contribute to and help manage the implementation of a diverse range of internal and external marketing communication programs (sales presentations, event support, web site content, social media, email programs, lead generation & video presentations).

  • Bring new capabilities and tactics to the institutional space that provide a superior client experience and further our partnership goals.

  • Conduct local market research to build market, industry, and competitor intelligence.

  • Analyze delivery of communications to help proactively and effectively manage client responses to communications.

  • Oversee assigned communication projects to ensure locally competitive content, quality, proper execution, and timely completion.

  • Ensure local/regional compliance needs are addressed. Review materials and communications for regulatory compliance and coordinate routing of material to required reviewers.

  • Coordinate with other marketing groups, such as the studio, creative services, product marketing and product management, and Sales leaders to design content for events and other marketing initiatives

  • Partner with Regional Institutional Marketing leaders to share best practices and coordinate our global Institutional priorities.

  • Partner with sales, product marketing, and investment teams to improve the quality of institutional pitchbooks.

  • Advise VP on infrastructure build, strategy, and 3rd party relationships

  • Complete ad-hoc marketing projects as necessary (e.g., branding, technology rollouts, etc.).

What ideal qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful?
  • 10+ years' experience in partnering with senior management to develop and execute clear, consistent and achievable strategic marketing plans tailored to global market growth expectations

  • Institutional asset management marketing experience (minimum 5-10 years required).

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably with a major in Communications, Economics, Finance or Marketing. CFA or MBA preferred.

  • Knowledge of US financial regulations and industry rules, guidelines, and standards a plus

  • Proven, demonstrated experience with managing projects from inception, to planning, budgeting, facilitation, and implementation.

  • Experience working with cross-functional and multi-channel teams (e.g., Compliance, Data Performance Groups, Internal Business Partners).
