DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW The Office of Legislative Analysis provides policy analysis and coordinates the development of the university's position on legislation, primarily at the state level, and prepares responses to legislative, gubernatorial and other official requests. POSITION SUMMARY Working in the Office of Legislative Analysis (OLA), the Senior Policy Analyst is responsible for: analyzing the policy and fiscal impacts of proposed state and federal legislation; developing responses to legislative and other inquiries from policy makers in Sacramento and Washington DC,; and providing analysis, coordination, and research that further UC's policy priorities. Reporting to the Director of OLA, the analyst serves as the primary analyst on legislation in their assigned subject areas, which will be determined based on the successful candidate's skills and interests as well as team needs. OLA supports both State Governmental Relations and Federal Governmental Relations by reviewing and analyzing proposed legislation and regulatory actions and recommending positions that support institutional priorities. OLA Senior Policy Analysts analyze complex issues in a variety of subject areas including, but not limited to, academic affairs, business and finance, and university operations. The analyst will work with subject matter experts at the UC Office of the President, colleagues in the External Relations and Communications Division, and other stakeholders.
