Duties

As a Management Analyst 5 - Senior Risk Mitigation Analyst (MA5) some of your duties will include:

  • Serve as an enterprise risk specialist incorporating risk prevention, mitigation and management into all levels of the Department through analyzing data and communicating insights to multiple audiences; supporting the procurement and implementation of a new enterprise incident management; and developing and owning risk management processes which could include:
    1. Partnering with data owners and analysts across the agency to collect and aggregate data from different sources including internal Department systems and external sources such other state, federal or local governments.
    2. Developing methods for and provide on-going management of the continuous collection of needed data and information to support the risk management office.
    3. Continuous updating of data visuals and dashboards linked to the agency risk register.
    4. Assisting with the procurement and implementation of a new enterprise incident management system.
    5. Serving as the Risk Management Office liaison on system related issues including, but not limited to, troubleshooting system problems and obtaining needed training and information from the vendor(s).
    6. Developing and managing an agency-wide process to ensure corrective actions, such as those resulting from external investigations and Corrections Ombuds reports, are completed in a timely manner and the results are communicated to appropriate stakeholders clearly and transparently.
    7. Developing and maintaining positive, productive working relationships with numerous internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

What we need (required qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a quantitative field
  • Five years of professional experience working with different types of qualitative and quantitative data
  • Demonstrated success with delivering actionable analysis
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of analytical techniques
  • Advanced/expert knowledge and experience with Excel
  • Ability to join tables, analyze data, produce user-friendly visuals and interactive dashboards in PowerBI
  • Understanding of good data governance practices and ability to routinely apply them
  • Understanding of state and federal data privacy laws and rules and their applicability to the work of the department
  • Familiarity with, or desire to learn, Lean principles and strategies for continuous improvement and problem-solving and demonstrated ability to apply such principles

  • A Master's degree in a quantitative field
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience with Power Point and Word
  • Advanced understanding of and experience applying industry best practices in data visualization and storytelling

  • Knowledge of project management best practices

Telework Details
This position may be allocated for telework. Work may be performed from your home or another offsite location within the state of Washington using a reliable internet or cellular hotspot service at that time. Employees are expected to perform assigned duties in a safe manner, to take proper care all state-issued equipment, and maintain confidentiality of all information in possession while working offsite. Employees will be required to commute to a Department of Corrections facility or field office as business requires, to potentially include components of the onboarding process. Some offices will have a "drop in" area available, however, a dedicated workspace within a DOC facility will not be provided.
