Aon is looking for an Earthquake and Fire Following Technical Lead Your Impact as an Earthquake and Fire Following Technical Lead in Reinsurance Solutions As part of the Americas Model Evaluation team within Aon's Catastrophe and Climate Risk Management team, you will play an integral role evaluating earthquake and fire following models through a deep understanding of earthquake and fire following peril science and delivering analytics solutions to Aon Reinsurance Solutions clients. Responsibilities: Support earthquake and fire following model evaluation in the U.S., Canada, and Latin America Engage in technical discussions on model hazard and vulnerability with catastrophe model vendors Research the latest scientific hazard updates from organizations like USGS and GEM and articulate changes to a variety of audiences Prepare and present technical catastrophe model evaluation deliverables to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences Partner with Aon's model evaluation teams globally to provide consistency and enhance model evaluation for the Americas Collaborate with account teams on earthquake and fire following risk management strategies and develop view of risk solutions for Aon clients Qualifications: MSc or PhD in civil engineering, seismology, geology, or other earth sciences-related field Industry certifications a plus (ARe, CPCU, CCRMP, CSCR, CCRA) Demonstration of deep earthquake and fire following peril expertise through related work experience and/or research Proven ability to articulate various earthquake and fire following concepts, such as ground motion prediction equations, a Gutenberg-Richter plot, differences between PGA and Sa, why soil type is important, how various construction classes respond to earthquakes, and key factors that influence fire following earthquake spread Demonstrated ability to present technical information to a variety of key audiences 2+ years of catastrophe modeling experience is a plus Proficiency in Spanish is a plus SQL, R, Python, Tableau experience is a plus The target salary range for this position is $80,000 to $100,00 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.
