Salary Range: $5,399 - $7,085 Monthly

This is a full time telework position. Travel and overnight says to the DOC Headquarters may be required.

The Engagement & Outreach team at the Washington State Department of Corrections is seeking an energized and analytical individual to join their team as a Corrections Specialist 4 (CS4)! This role will have organization-wide analysis responsibilities pertaining to engagement and outreach activities with specialized stakeholders

The candidate of choice must have excellent communication skills as you will be the primary resource for collaboration between the Department of Corrections and the Office of Corrections Ombuds. In addition, you will provide expert level analyses to management, staff, and stakeholders on multidimensional, institution-wide issues. The wide scope of complex duties and responsibilities this position holds includes research and analysis, formulating recommendations, providing proactive intervention and solutions, responding to diverse stakeholders and constituents, and coordinating implementation of strategic activities.

Building trust and positive relationships while facilitating identified areas of change within the agency will be the primary role of this position. You will work proactively with leadership and line staff to ensure the agency mission, vision, and values are being practiced throughout the agency. Duties

As a Corrections Specialist 4 (CS4), some of your duties will include:

  • Providing research, analysis, and consultation on multidimensional, institution-wide operational issues, and a variety of correctional programs to include:
    1. Researching and evaluating department operational issues, including but not limited to, process, procedure and policy.
    2. Identifying where operational practices, procedures, policies need to be aligned with department mission, vision, values and applicable state and federal guidelines, policies, rules, and laws.
  • Using expert-level understanding of relevant department, state, and federal guidelines, policies, rules, and laws to provide proactive intervention and solution recommendations for operational improvements and modified resource needs to include:
    1. Proactively educating self on updates to relevant department, state, and federal guidelines, policies, rules and laws.
    2. Identifying and evaluating risks, such as legal liabilities and process/procedure errors, to create opportunities for proactive intervention to minimize or prevent unfortunate outcomes.
  • Serve as department representative and/or liaison for business analysis teams, projects, or to facilitate communication and interactions with and between diverse internal and external stakeholders and constituents.
  • Coordinate implementation of department business operational plans and process improvements.
  • Oversee and ensure department compliance of , , and , as pertains to incarcerated individuals.

Qualifications

What we need (required qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, law, or a related field

AND

  • Five years' experience in two or more of the following:
    1. Conducting research
    2. Analyzing policies, laws, rules, or regulations
    3. Conducting business analysis and developing requirements
    4. Leading business projects
    5. Managing business operations
    6. Business policy development
    7. Supervising
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
  • Advanced level of proficiency in using effective verbal communications skills to respond to inquiries.
  • Advanced level of demonstrated effective written communication skills to respond to written inquiries.
  • Advanced level of demonstrated positive and professional interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Advanced level of demonstrated ability to engage confidently and respectfully with strong personalities and executive level leadership and department stakeholders to yield tangible results and/or work product.
  • Advanced ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. Intermediate ability to organize, multi-task and prioritize effectively.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed.

  • Basic level of proficiency with OnBase.

Telework Details
This position may be allocated for telework. Work may be performed from your home or another offsite location within the state of Washington using a reliable internet or cellular hotspot service at that time. Employees are expected to perform assigned duties in a safe manner, to take proper care all state-issued equipment, and maintain confidentiality of all information in possession while working offsite. Employees will be required to commute to a Department of Corrections facility or field office as business requires, to potentially include components of the onboarding process. Some offices will have a "drop in" area available, however, a dedicated workspace within a DOC facility will not be provided.
