Job Overview

Design and, collaboratively with other MBUSA business units and IT, develop/implement retail network metrics, reporting, controls, and visualizations that accurately and comprehensively determine the "health" of the dealer network in alignment with, and support of, the strategic direction established by Executive Management. Such mechanisms should ensure transparency of network performance, down to the dealer and dealer group level, and identify areas of opportunity that can then be made transparent to the Performance Steering Board and other users for direct action by the dealer to create a high performance and industry benchmark retail dealer network. Ensure that such mechanisms and controls are in compliance with MBUSA/Mercedes-Benz AG defined operational guidelines and processes.

Responsibilities

Network Data and Analytical Tools (60%)

* Network data expert and guru

* Develop, manage, and continuously improve data analytic tools for the purpose of identifying potential and steering performance amongst all Performance Groups (Air, Land, Sea) of the dealer network.

* Develop and provide tools that offer actionable transparency of network performance, down to dealer and process level for all business units including Sales, Pre-Owned, Customer Services, & Digital House.

* Collaborate with the business units to collect data and aggregate into a single source of truth for dealer performance

* Responsible for being the expert on the performance data and kpis, what each metric means, how it is calculated, how it is visualized, and why it is important

* Develop and manage including structure and roadmap for the dealer performance dashboard as well as facilitate training to teach all users how to interact with it

* Collaborate with the Performance Steering Board, business units, and field force to create a single source of truth and network performance standardized reporting that focuses on corporate strategy business objectives

Network Systems (20%)

* Business owner of the Netstar portal

* Collaborate with IT on the management of the dealer portal including sales & aftersales systems

* Manage and communicate on performance of the system

* Lead the business requirements for Netstar related projects including final decisions on changes requests and enhancements as well as prioritization of approved changes

* Manage dealer communication through the portal

* Manage outside user access controls to ensure that the system complies with Mercedes-Benz AG information security policies

* Responsible for any additional dealer systems that become relevant for Network Performance and business needs

DMS and vendor management (15%)

* Develop and manage relationships with the Dealer Management Systems (DMS) vendors including optimal number of partners and core functions

* Responsible for communication with DMS vendors regarding ongoing business objectives and projects including modern technology & integration opportunities

* Responsible for regular review and renewal of DMS contracts

* Collaborate with purchasing and legal to ensure all DMS and vendor contracts are compliant and are favorable

Team/Cultural Development (5%)

* Responsible for performance evaluations/feedback, personnel coaching/development of direct reports

* Define and project/live a performance culture that rewards and/or develops staff toward the collaborative attainment of team, division and corporate objectives

* Be an active and engaged member of the Management community challenging the status quo and enabling a culture of open, transparent and respectful debate to achieve collaborative solutions that serve the best interests of the company and employees.

Qualifications

Qualifications/ Education

Education

* Degree in Data Science/Business Management/Finance/Economics/ Statistics/ Engineering required

* Automotive retail education (or equivalent experience) is beneficial

Experience

* Proven record of >10 years specifically within Data Science and System Management

* Comprehensive knowledge of modern data platforms, software, and analytical tools

* Proven ability to breakdown large amount of data into visual, digestible, and actionable parts

* Experienced in leading teams (>5 years).

* Knowledge of Automotive retail processes and procedures with an emphasis in New and Pre-Owned Sales, accessories, service, and parts is a benefit

* Experienced in vendor management and budget management

Skills

* Proficient in digital skills and with digital systems, visualization tools, and software

* Working knowledge of MBUSA systems

* Ability to work and communicate clearly with IT as the business owner of data and dealer systems

* Ability to gather large amounts of data to make easily digestible visuals and dashboards, as well as dynamic and user friendly reports

* Proven ability to contextualize data for non-data users for the purpose of actionable business priorities

* Ability to engage with external partners for data exchange in useful formats

* Skilled in facilitating training activities for system users

* Proven ability to set and manage multiple priorities and tasks

* Proven ability to design and execute actions plans as well as delegate resources steered with various levels of accountability and follow-up

* Strong Planning and Organizational skills with ability to dissect and create order from chaos within project management environment

* Displays diplomacy and relevance when responding to requests and providing feedback

* Proven ability to steer and make decisions with a holistic view of business needs and resource allocation; national, organizational, key stakeholders, etc.
