JOB OVERVIEW

The overall objective is to ensure that all Mercedes-Benz vehicles imported/distributed in the USA and Canada meet all necessary quality requirements of MB vehicles produced by all MBAG plants worldwide prior to distribution in the retail market.

- This role is focuses on two areas of technical expertise:

- Area 1: Requires the ability to use MBAG approved diagnostic equipment and repair tools to identify and ensure all current campaigns and repairs that are required by plants for new inventory are correctly identified and completed in accordance with the instructions. This position also must have diagnostic skills to be able to ascertain if the instructions for campaign/repair are accurate to achieve the desired result and if not, then this position must be able identify the issues so that the repairs/actions for new inventory are completed in accordance with MBAG quality standards.

- Area 2: Requires the ability to provide the necessary technical expertise to maximize the value of the vehicle in the market and to avoid vehicles going to auction due to inability to meet quality standards. These responsibilities also encompass ensuring all internal MB fleets meet the above requirements of MBAG quality standards. This position requires an individual to have the ability to use advanced diagnostic systems and ability to understand complex technical instructions to be able to identify problems and find a repair method to fix the issues in accordance with MBAG quality standards. The position requires the technical expertise necessary to identify, validate and perform mechanical/electrical repairs, modifications issued by MBUSA Engineering services in accordance with all MBAG quality standards. This position is responsible to replace mechanical components, or interior parts (assemblies, sub-assemblies, or individual parts) which are found to be defective, including major drive components, such as full engine, transmission and electric drive components within MB vehicles. The position must have the technical skills to utilize MB online systems for part information related to vehicles to ensure correct parts needed are ordered.

- This position requires advanced technical abilities and qualifications to power down and repair electric/hybrid vehicles.

- This position must also have the written and verbal skills to ensure all parts installed and repairs using MBAG and MBUSA systems are recorded properly to ensure a complete accurate record of open and completed work to the vehicle is maintained. This is necessary from both a quality and legal standpoint.

- This position will provide technical support, guidance and training to Technical Associates and Mechanical Technician II daily in order for these positions to be effective in support of all mechanical, technical and electrical functions required to be done on MB vehicles.

- This position must also perform or ensure all preventative maintenance on tools and equipment are completed so that VPC operations can be carried out efficiently.

- This position must have the necessary technical skills to give guidance and expert advice to management on all mechanical/technical vehicle related issues. Responsible to complete online and classroom based training for new tools, software (Microsoft Products), diagnostic systems and new vehicles yearly or as required.

- This position must have the qualifications to ensure all work completed is done in adherence to ISO9001 standards and MBAG quality standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Identify mechanical/electrical repairs (including fully electric/Hybrid vehicles) using current diagnostic tools and online technical instructions. Perform advanced diagnosed repairs and modifications (issued by MBUSA

- Engineering services) in accordance with all MBG and MBUSA quality standards

- Replace mechanical, body or interior parts (assemblies, sub-assemblies, or individual parts) which are found to be defective on all models including electric/hybrid vehicles.

- Identify parts/components that need to be replaced using MB online systems

- Record all parts installed and repairs using MBG and MBUSA systems to ensure a complete accurate record of open and completed work to the vehicle.

- Perform all preventative maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure all work completed can be carried out efficiently.

- Maintain a clean and safe work area.

- Provide technical support, guidance and assistance to Technical Associates and Mechanical Technician II daily.

- Ensure adherence to ISO9001 standards

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

- Minimum High School Diploma (GED) or equivalent

- Trade School and or Associate/Bachelor's degree in Automotive Technology preferred.

- ASE's preferred in the following:

- Advanced Engine Performance Specialist

- Light Duty Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Specialist

- Damage Analysis & Estimating

- Undercar Specialist Exhaust System

- Other related automotive ASE's

- Refrigerant Recovery Certification

- Must be able to work flexible hours/work schedule

- Work Weekends and Holidays when required
