Job Overview

The Parts Material Master Specialist is responsible for analyzing the adequacy and accuracy of the initial parts master process and information set-up entered into MBUSA's Paragon parts system. This will ensure quality lean master data and integrity to support new model launches and ongoing parts planning for availability and uninterrupted parts sales.

The incumbent actively manages Parts Master processes interfacing with MBUSA Product Management/Sales, Daimler Global Logistics Center (GLC), MB Accessories, After Sales Business Development, MB Planning & Pricing, Parts Assistance Center (PAC), Customer Assistance Center (CAC), Parts Logistics Supply Chain (SCM), New Model Launch (NML), Vehicle Preparation Center (VPC), Quality Engineering Center (QEC), Engineering Services, PDCs, IT SAP, Supply Chain Management (SCM) and Network Optimization Management (NOM).

Responsibilities

* Ensure overall integrity of new parts and accessories data entered in the Material Master Database of the Paragon system. Determines the nature of parts operations and the efficiency of existing processes in an effort to identify potential opportunities for improvement.

* Identify areas for data quality improvements and help to resolve data quality problems through the appropriate choice of error detection and correction, process control and improvement, or process design strategies.

* Report current inquiry trends and work with team to develop new tools as necessary to resolve current and anticipated issues

* Creates and generates relevant KPIs for parts master management visibility and application for business decisions and process improvement.

* Assist in creating communication / training documentation to support the transition to new processes and help drive Lean initiatives throughout Parts Logistics with quarterly process documentation validation.

* Serves as a subject matter expert and liaison with the Paragon system users, by assisting end users with understanding all processes and modifications involving Parts Substitutions, Parts Master Data Roadmap and Info Records.

* Validates data as well as supporting the system testing from Unit Testing, Integration Testing and User Acceptance Testing

* Support NAFTA New Model Launch activities to ensure proper set up of initial parts who impact the launches of New Models, facelifts and Model Year Change vehicles

* Proven analytical experience with high aptitude for research, analysis, and problem solving skills

* Develops and analyzes data/queries and reports of Parts Material records, Initial Parts files to support New Model Launch operations, and other data sources.

* Creates and modifies data records for all parts sold, in accordance with MBUSA policy and procedures and federal and state regulations.

* In collaboration with subject matter experts and data stewards, defines and implements data strategy, policies, controls, and programs to ensure the enterprise data is accurate, complete, secure, and reliable.

* Assess the effectiveness of current processes and suggest improvements and identify business risks, inefficiencies, issues, and opportunities for automation of processes.

* Ability to understand automotive Material Flow business processes and required Master Data

* Must decide in accordance with MBUSA policy whether parts may be drop-shipped, referred to other PDC's, reordered, are theft-relevant (DRT), and determine other indicators and settings which control the conditions under which parts may (or may not) be sold.

* Supports Parts Technical Service with ensuring all MBUSA materials are accurately extended within the MBUSA Market.

* Ensures that all Parts Material Specialist relevant tasks are completed in a timely and accurate manner by all responsible parties by developing, implementing, maintaining and auditing cross-departmental processes as required, and by recognizing and acting upon the need for new processes or process improvements.

* Performs special projects as assigned and/or necessary.

* Implement continuous improvement through process automation using Lean Standardization and value stream mapping.

Qualifications

Qualifications/ Education

Bachelor's degree (accredited school) or equivalent work experience with emphasis in:

* Business management

* Preferably in a manufacturing or automotive environment.

* Proficient in Power BI, SQL, and Data Automation

* Comprehensive understanding of Master Data Management and Business Operations

* Database experience

* Proven record of producing work to exceptional levels of accuracy within expected timeframes

* Excellent understanding of continuous improvement concepts including, Lean, value stream mapping

* Experience of hands-on implementation of continuous improvement programs and Lean solutions

* Innovate(champions new ideas, continuous improvement, adaptable, practical solutions)

Must have 3-5 years (total) of experience in the following:

* Automotive-Retail.

Commensurate experience with in-depth technical knowledge of Mercedes-Benz parts and vehicles, with comprehensive working knowledge of parts numbering systems, parts policies and procedures, parts applications, and the MBUSA vehicle product line.

* Problem solving.

Knowledge of how to diagnose the root cause of individual or systemic problems affecting the parts availability/inaccuracy in the system, recommend solutions, develop and implement effective and sustainable corrective actions quickly.

* Decision-making.

Must decide the best approach to complex data analysis problems, write and troubleshoot data queries, and present recommendations for process and policy change with supporting reports to management.

* Integrated Supply Chain Management (ISCM).

Comprehensive Knowledge of the principles and methodology for a process-orientated, integrated approach to procuring, producing, and delivering spare parts to customers.

* Parts and Accessories.

Comprehensive Knowledge of spare parts and accessories, to enable parts master database management.

* Processing.

General Knowledge of processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques in order to achieve maximum efficiency.

Additional Information

* SAP master data experience and knowledge required
