Unit Description

Sodexo has an immediate need for an Accounting Analyst to work in the Entity Accounting Department which ensures the integrity of general ledgers and prepares financial and statutory reporting for North American legal entities. The department also prepares and submits entities' annual reports to states. The department is part of our Financial Shared Services Center located in Cheektowaga, NY which handles the accounting for our North American Operations. Within the center there are many departments and positions so there's opportunities for growth & advancement.

The roles will work a hybrid schedule averaging three days in the office and two days from home plus 10 work from anywhere days- this is on top of vacation, holidays and personal days.

The successful candidate will:

    Maintain integrity of legal entity general ledgers
  • Prepare and review monthly/quarterly entity allocation entries and other financial close related activities
  • Prepare and distribute quarterly legal entity reports, including consolidating financial statements
  • Financial and statutory reporting for legal entities on an annual and as needed basis
  • Partner with Headquarter Tax Dept on various special projects/requests
  • Prepare, submit and process payments for state Annual Reports
  • Equity method accounting for Joint Ventures
  • Balance Sheet account reconciliations utilizing Blackline
  • Support acquisitions and divestitures, as needed
  • Unit setups and legal entity changes (Entity tab) in PaCCC tool
  • Coordination, preparation and posting of PPFA's (Prior Period Financial Adjustments)
  • Participation in legal entity related system User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
  • Ensure proper elimination of all intercompany activity between legal entities/segments

Is this the right opportunity for you? We are looking for candidates that have/are:

  • Bachelor's of Science Degree in Accounting preferred
  • CPA certification preferred
  • Minimum 4-6 years of demonstrated in-depth accounting experience
  • Hands-on experience with SAP, Microsoft Office
  • Income tax experience helpful
  • Excellent written and communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management
  • Demonstrated knowledge of large, sophisticated accounting systems. Strong working knowledge of Sodexo systems and tools used for standard data analysis and ad hoc reporting (e.g. SAP, Essbase, etc).
  • Excellent computer skills with ability to accumulate, evaluate and interpret accounting data and provide concise executive summaries using PowerPoint and Excel to translate highly technical financial information for non-technical audiences
  • Must have a high degree of initiative and be willing to work in a collaborative team environment with a demonstrated customer service orientation
  • Strong technical accounting, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Ability to assume responsibility for projects and complete with minimal involvement/direction from management

Position Summary

Uses prescribed guidelines or policies to analyze and resolve problems. Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction.
