This position is eligible for telework with office space provided. Telework schedule to be determined between the incumbent and the position supervisor.

The Risk Management Unit is searching for a dynamic and professional Management Analyst 3 (MA3) to join their team.

As the MA3, you would be an essential addition to the Risk Management Unit and to the Department. This is the perfect opportunity to utilize your strong conversation and relationship skills as you communicate with diverse stakeholders, build, and maintain professional relationships, while providing technical knowledge and experience during assessments and recommendations. The MA3 position is also responsible for serving as an enterprise-wide specialist incorporating Enterprise Risk Management into all levels of the Department.

The MA3 also acts as a consultant on loss prevention and risk mitigation by monitoring programs/efforts, minimizing potential losses, while developing and managing agency wide loss prevention and risk mitigation policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Duties

As a MA3, some of your duties will include:

  • Enterprise Risk Management
    1. Serve as an enterprise-wide specialist incorporating Enterprise Risk Management into all levels of the Department through education and training.
    2. Assist in development of Enterprise Risk Management tools, practices, policies and procedures.
    3. Assist in assessment of department's risk appetite.
    4. Assist in assessments of department's strategic and operational risks and the development of risk registries.
    5. Develop standardize templates for risk registers, risk mitigation/corrective action plans, for tracking the effectiveness of risk mitigation/corrective action plans, for tracking training provided, for tracking facilitations of risk identification, assessments and prioritization, and for reporting to Management/ Senior Leadership.
    6. Provide advice on strategies to minimize and mitigate risk.
    7. Recommend/monitor programs to mitigate risk, research and stay current of trends and legal issues in the field of risk management.
    8. Review agency practices and procedures and provides recommendations to manage identified risks.
  • Loss Prevention
    1. Review and track incident and injury reports to determine cause of injury and identify trends and provide advice and recommendations on preventing future losses/injuries.
    2. Use incident and injury tracking data to determine potential areas to focus loss prevention activities.
    3. Develop Loss Prevention practices, policies and procedures for minimizing/preventing damage to department property.
    4. Use incident and injury tracking data to determine if loss prevention activities have been effective in preventing loss or injury.
    5. Work with employees, management and Safety Managers to mitigate risk and prevent loss or injury.
    6. Scan, catalog, and file Critical Incident Reports (CIRs), as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
    1. Become familiar with Department insurance programs, including SILP.
    2. Update slides for Senior Leadership (as assigned).

Qualifications

What we need (required qualifications):

  • Two years professional experience as a Risk Manager or similar position with responsibility for risk management, identification of risks and risk trends and/or development of loss prevention strategies is required.
  • Intermediate knowledge/use of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word is required

What will make your application stand out (preferred qualifications):

  • A Bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, risk management or related field from an accredited college or university or certification in Risk Management, Enterprise Risk Management or related field is preferred.
  • Risk Management or related certification is preferred.
  • Advanced/expert knowledge/use of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word is preferred.
Professional experience in Risk Management or related field may be substituted year for year for education.

Telework Details
The position may be allocated for telework. Work may be performed from your home or another offsite location within the state of Washington, using a reliable internet or cellular hotspot service at the time. Employees are expected to perform assigned duties in a safe manner, to take proper care all state-issued equipment, and maintain confidentiality of all information in possession while working offsite. Employees will be required to commute to a Department of Corrections facility or field office as business requires, to potentially include components of the onboarding process. Some offices will have an available "drop in" area; however, a dedicated workspace within a DOC facility will not be provided.
