Cheerleading Coach

The Cheerleading Coach will serve during the academic year from September 1 - April 30 each year. This part time non-benefited position works approximately 10 hours per week typically in the late afternoons, evenings and on weekends. Hours may fluctuate based on the time of year and the needs of the team. Pay for the position is expected to be $13 per hour.

Job Responsibilities


  • Work collaboratively with the cheerleading team's student executive board
  • Foster an effective working relationship with the Club Sports office, the Dance Team, the Mascot, and the Athletics Department
  • Assist in on-campus recruiting, selecting, training, and retaining of cheerleaders
  • Conduct tryouts to ensure the cheerleading team is up to standard.
  • Plan and implement regular practices to include proper technique with an emphasis on safety
  • Teach skills in a sequential and appropriate progression from the most fundamental abilities to the more complex skills
  • Approve all cheers and gestures that will be displayed or performed
  • Develop and implement performances for athletic contests (primarily basketball games) and other events
  • Represent the college by promoting good sportsmanship at all events
  • Inspect and maintain an accurate inventory of all equipment
  • Establish and appropriately enforce standards for the club members to follow
  • Attend all mandatory Club Sport coaches meetings
  • Keep an accurate record of hours worked and submit electronic timesheet when due

Qualifications


  • Prior experience as a cheerleading coach
  • Detailed knowledge of the sport's techniques
  • Exceptional communication and proven leadership skills
  • Current cheerleading coaching certification or willingness to become certified
  • Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification or willingness to become certified
