The Department of Corrections Health Services Division is seeking a highly motivated and attentive individual to take on the crucial leadership role of Facility Medical Director (FMD) at the Stafford Creek Corrections Center
(SCCC) located in Aberdeen, WA. This position consist of a blend of 80% administrative and 20% direct patient care responsibilities. This position works Monday- Friday but could be eligible for a 4/10 schedule.
Our health care providers work with incarcerated individuals to provide high quality, non-judgmental care to this vulnerable and underserved population. The Facility Medical Director has oversight of all medical decisions and care at the facility.

Duties
-
The FMD analyzes, directs, and coordinates medical care provided to the patients in a Corrections Center. Collaboratively develops, directs, and supervises implementation and ongoing coordination of a health care delivery system approach to the provision of health care, to include development of a population-based demand management approach with an equal emphasis on prevention.
Maintains positive professional relationships with patients, community medical providers and co-workers using positive problem solving skills. In collaboration with the Health Services Manager , actively leads and participates in Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives. Other duties include:
- Takes a leading role in delivery of healthcare services to our patients as well as responsibility for the supervision of advanced practice providers and nursing staff.
- Collaborates in medical treatments with consulting physicians.
- Provides emergency treatment on-site and responds appropriately in urgent or emergency situations.
- Performs diagnostic and treatment of diseases and injuries of patients; develops and updates individualized treatment plans for patients with chronic conditions or special needs.
- Works in collaboration with others to ensure staff and resources are in place to provide patients with appropriate and timely medical services consistent with established standards.
- Creates a work environment that values high ethical standards, emphasizes safe, high quality medical care, nurtures teamwork and encourages activities which lead to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

- Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree with completion of an ACGME/ABOM approved residency program.
- Board-certified in primary care specialty (Family Practice or Internal Medicine) Board eligible physicians maybe considered with employment contingent upon achieving board certifications within 24 months of hire date. Board certification must be maintained by employee as a requirement for continued employment.
- Unrestricted unblemished licensed to practice medicine in the State of Washington (or the ability to obtain prior to employment).
- Unrestricted DEA license with waiver to prescribe buprenorphine for opioid use disorder. Physicians without an active buprenorphine waiver will be considered however continued employment will be contingent upon receipt of waiver within 60 days of hiring date.
- BSL certification
- Possess strong interpersonal skills and experience in directing medical operations.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to provide education in a manner that enhances one to learn about their disease or chronic condition.
- Effectively communicate, orally and in writing, with a variety of individuals ranging from correctional administrators and staff, and health care professionals to patient advocates and other laypersons.

Telework Details
This position may be allocated for telework. Work may be performed from your home or another offsite location within the state of Washington using a reliable internet or cellular hotspot service at that time. Employees are expected to perform assigned duties in a safe manner, to take proper care all state-issued equipment, and maintain confidentiality of all information in possession while working offsite. Employees will be required to commute to a Department of Corrections facility or field office as business requires, to potentially include components of the onboarding process. Some offices will have a "drop in" area available, however, a dedicated workspace within a DOC facility will not be provided.
