Job Summary:

The Global Account Director is the executive leader for our large automotive customers and their responsibilities include planning, coordinating, and leading how the global Belden team delivers and executes against the AccountPlan. They work closely with the customer to co-create value that leads to positive business outcomes such as superior growth & profitability, innovative & scalable customer solutions, and superior customer loyalty.


  • Accountable to all Platforms for the development and growth of revenue for General Motors.
  • Accountable for the total revenue of specific accounts (it is expected that the Account has considerable international multi-platform revenue growth opportunity). Revenue from all Belden regions, platforms/divisions and brands is considered. The role is assigned a global budget for the account and is responsible for meeting and exceeding the budget.
  • Proactively coordinate across the whole internal Belden organization to ensure General Motors receives planned and consistent contacts from our organization.
  • Establish the strategic long-term vision for the account relationship; carrying the vision throughout the Account as well as internally. This includes responsibility for the Global Account business planning process and strategy development.
  • Responsible for the development, implementation and execution of account action plan that delivers mutual value. Includes: Situation Appraisal, Bridge to Strategy, and Framework.
  • Develop and maintain critical relationships at the Global Account, including targeting new relationships and securing executive level sponsorship.
  • Act as a leader of change both internally and within the customer; adapting and changing ways of working to capitalize on an opportunity for mutual value.
  • Manage customer loyalty ensuring processes are in place to measure account satisfaction and loyalty. Proactively analyze and evaluate customer feedback to identify gaps and develop relevant action plans.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Degreein Engineering, Business or a relevant Marketing degree.
  • Experience working within a medium or large sized international organization.
  • Experience working closely with cross functional teams including Marketing, Operations and Finance; ideally across regions. Experience and competent with C-Suite interaction.
  • Knowledge and experience in channel sales (distributor) environment.
  • Proventrack record of delivering in a commercially focused role, including customer facing responsibilities. Demonstrate strong results orientation in previous roles.
  • Demonstrate ability to work effectively with the Belden portfolio. Technical expertise not required but an appreciation and ability to understand product applications is essential.
  • Able to work with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Ability to travel in order to fulfil the duties of the role essential. Must have the flexibility to cope with the pressures of different time zones.
  • Can adapt quickly and work successfully in non-native countries.
  • Experience working within an international environment desirable.
  • Proven track record of being able to deliver sustained sales results, including experience of key / large accounts, end user selling, growing existing customer accounts and developing new accounts across multiple territories and countries.
  • Experience leading a business, division, geography, or function and a proven track record of indirect influence in an organization.
  • Experience in a non-sales function including General Management, Marketing, Finance, Engineering, Operations, and Product Management
  • Experience managing accounts in a structured methodology including account plan reviews. Working experience of Miller Heiman methodology advantageous.
