The Department of Corrections (DOC), Larch Corrections Center (LCC), is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for a permanent Secretary Supervisor position. This position is located at Larch Corrections Center in Yacolt, WA.

The successful candidate who is not a prior employee with the Dept. of Corrections will need to attend a mandatory 6-week training period at the agency's Correctional Academy located in Centralia, WA.

FACILITY PROFILE

Larch Corrections Center opened in 1956 with the current operating capacity of 480 residents. LCC is a minimum custody facility located on a relatively remote 40 acre site, approximately 20 miles northeast of Vancouver, WA. The site is leased from the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). The DNR also maintains a facility on site and provides work for the residents. LCC employs about 120 staff members.

Duties

DUTIES:
Include but are not limited to:

-Provide confidential and administrative support to the facility Superintendent by: Maintaining strict confidentiality of all involved matters, issues, documentation and incidents. Strict confidentiality is a critical aspect of this position, and must be maintained at all times.
-Complete routine and complex clerical tasks using computer word processors, spreadsheets, databases and publishing software,
-Record and publish meeting minutes as directed,
-Coordinate and compile resources information, schedule meetings and projects, and handle the correspondence of the facility Superintendent,
-Draft, prepare, proof read and compile documents for the Superintendent's signature.
-Develop forms, databases, documents, presentations and spreadsheets as requested by the facility Superintendent.
-Enter appropriate information into the OMNI database, file forms and documents in both electronic and hardcopy format.
-Assist in the development of internal procedures at the direction of the facility Superintendent.
-Attention to detail is an essential aspect of this position.

Supervision and administrative direction of administrative clerical staff.
-Processing of yearly Performance and Development (PDP) evaluations and expectations.
-Assigns, directs and supervises the work, projects and duties of all assigned clerical staff.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent,
AND

  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible (progressive) office or clerical experience. (Candidate must be able to show a clear history of progressive clerical experience that is relevant to the position.)

PREFERRED:
  • AT LEAST one (1) year of DIRECT supervisory experience where the majority of the duties involved leading, directing and supervising the work of others.
