Remote hybrid: Persons in these roles are expected to spend part of their time on-site in our Seattle offices and may occasionally work remotely from their home in the Greater Seattle area. Compensation Range: $124,760 - $187,140

Are you passionate about taking artificial intelligence to the next level, to solve problems that require modeling, reasoning, and explanation? We are looking for talented researchers interested in applying their skills towards the next generation of intelligent systems, and pursuing our mission of AI for the common good.

The Young Investigator position:



  • Duration: 1-3 years

  • The Allen AI Young Investigator is a postdoctoral program offering unique benefits. The program will enable you to balance working collaboratively on an AI2 project while pursuing an independent research agenda.


Who We Are:

Interested in building machines with commonsense intelligence? With the Mosaic team, you will be at the forefront of research in Commonsense in AI. As a Young Investigator, you'll have the opportunity to work on various aspects of commonsense in AI:



  • How should we model commonsense reasoning capabilities?
  • How should we represent commonsense in our AI models?
  • How should we reason across modalities -- e.g. images and text?
  • How should we collect and organize commonsense knowledge?
  • How should we benchmark commonsense reasoning capabilities of AI?
  • How should we reason through generation?
  • How should we identify and mitigate biases in our datasets?
  • How should we ?


Your Next Challenge:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:



  • Dedicated AI2 mentor: Mentorship in research, grant writing, and more
  • 50% collaborative work on an AI2 project
  • 50% work on your own projects
  • Commonsense Reasoning:


    • Modeling: How should we build models that demonstrate commonsense reasoning?
    • Multimodality: How should we build models that can reason from information obtained from different modalities -- e.g. images and text?
    • Generation


  • Commonsense Evaluation:


    • Benchmarking: How should we evaluate commonsense reasoning of AI?


  • Commonsense Knowledge Acquisition:


    • Crowdsourcing
    • Mining implicit commonsense from large text / image corpora

Benefits:



  • Team members and their families are covered by medical, dental, vision, and an employee assistance program.

  • Team members are able to enroll in our company's 401k plan.
  • Team members will receive $125 per month to assist with commuting or internet expenses and will also receive $200 per month for fitness and wellbeing expenses.
  • Team members will also receive up to ten sick days per year, up to seven personal days per year, up to 20 vacation days per year and twelve paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
