Job Description

Reporting Relationship: Area Manager

Location:Mentor, OH

Education: Minimum Associates degree in Management, Engineering or related disciplines, B.S. degree or equivalent preferred. Equivalent background considered. Equivalent background would involve a minimum of five years casting operations experience with progressive responsibility.

PersonalCharacteristics: Able to meet deadlines and be accountable for quality/ quantity. Able to work flexible hours with a history of dependability as demonstrated with strong attendance record. Comfortable using a team approach to problem solving. Have strong sense of urgency. Individual must be a motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that gets along with customers, clients, co-workers and supervisors.

Work Experience: Minimum of one to three years of industrial supervisory or similar leadership experience.

Principal Area ofResponsibility: Responsible for the safe manufacture of company products which may represent a broad diversity of manufacturing processes. Responsible for satisfying all quality and productivity requirements in most cost effective manner. May supervise multiple functions and/or shifts typically but not exclusively through shift/department leads. Production Supervisor positions are responsible for a lesser span of control and/or require a lesser level of demonstrated expertise in manufacturing and process skills than an Area or Section Manager

Specific Duties: Provide effective supervision and coaching to assigned employees to achieve the required quality and production goals in a manner consistent with maintaining non union status. Maintain department records and inventories.

  • Manage the movement of product through the production area. Know where Product is in the process / at all times. Organizes work for smooth operations.
  • Ensure that standard operating procedures and engineering procedures are current, accurate and that all work is done in compliance to ensure maximum quality.
  • Monitor the Operations safety program and insure that all employees comply with safety regulations.
  • Ensure that the Operations departments' high standard of housekeeping is met.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all production processes and materials.
  • Work with employees to resolve technical and personnel problems.
  • Schedule employees to effectively meet production needs and to ensure vacation and other time off consistent with plant policies. Assist in candidate selection as requested.
  • Trouble shoots and provides cost effective resolutions to production problems.
  • Organizes work for smooth operations. Ensure that required documentation is maintained.
  • Communicate to employees all issues that affect the plant.
  • Provide the shift to shift communication link in order to keep all team members working toward the same goals.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere.
  • Perform other duties as determined by the area manager
  • Any and all additional responsibilities as required or assigned.

  • The ability to handle high stress associated with high activity with tight deadlines.
